Our name is long, our agenda broad: We, the Friends
of the Northborough Senior Center Inc., support the efforts of the
Northborough Council on Aging and Senior Center staff.
Since 1991, when we were based at the Center on Centre
Drive, we have been developing an organization of enthusiastic volunteers who
raise funds to help provide programs, social services, and emergency aid for our
town’s older residents. Our fundraising augments
the work of the Council on Aging, whose members are appointed by the Board of
Selectmen to maintain or increase the quality of life for Northborough’s mature
residents and to oversee the operation of their Senior Center.
Besides fundraising events, Friends’ financial support comes
from membership dues, donations from individuals and businesses, and corporate
contributions. The beautiful new Senior
Center, opened at 119 Bearfoot Road in 2010, inspires our efforts to promote
and support its needs and those of the seniors who gather there. Please take a look at some examples of
Friends-funded projects and also the schedule of upcoming special events
and Senior Center activities.
Our circle of Friends is growing, thanks to people of all ages who care about Northborough's senior residents. We welcome your visits both to the Center and our
website, and we cordially invite your interest in Friends membership,
which is open to all ages and not limited to local residents! |
